Kirkbymoorside is a popular market town at the southern end of the North York Moors National Park. There are plenty of shops and amenities within the town. Golfers can enjoy a round at Kirkbymoorside Golf Club which offers a challenging course in delightful rural scenery. Fishing is available at Ings Lane Pond. The town really comes alive on market day, which is every Wednesday. Set on cobbled stones, there has been a market in the town since 1254.
You can easily visit the lovely valley of Farndale, which is very well known for its spring daffodils. The nearby charming moors village of Hutton-le-Hole is the home of the Ryedale Folk Museum. Kirkbymoorside is a good base for visiting the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway at Pickering, Nunnington Hall, near Hovingham and is close to numerous historical attractions in Helmsley.
