There are some excellent holiday cottages in the village of Hovingham and the area around it. This picturesque village sits amidst the lovely countryside of the Howardian Hills, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Hovingham has a beck running through the main street, two pubs, a shop, a tea room and a bakery. There is a village tennis court, bowling green and playground.

The tranquil countryside is ideal for walking and cycling and makes an excellent base for touring the North York Moors and Howardian Hills. A lovely place to look around is the National Trust’s Nunnington Hall. The popular stately home and gardens of Castle Howard are 4 miles from Hovingham and the market towns of Helmsley and Malton are 8 miles away. In Helmsley you can visit Helmsley Castle and Helmsley Walled Garden. York and its visitor attractions and the East Coast resorts of Scarborough, Whitby and Filey are easily driveable from this area.
