Staithes is a traditional fishing village with a natural harbour and a small sandy beach. You will find a maze of alleys winding through the village, giving it great character. Art galleries, antique shops and The Captain Cook and Staithes Heritage Centre gives Staithes a unique charm all of its own.
The village is a superb base for walking with cliff top walks along the Cleveland Way. The ancient fishing port of Whitby and coastal resorts of Robin Hoods Bay and Scarborough are within easy driving distance of Staithes. It is easy to explore the North York Moors & ‘Heartbeat Country’ from here.
N.B. Due to the steep cobbled bank leading to the village and public car parking only available at the top of the hill, Staithes may not be suitable for any person with walking difficulties.
