Settle attracts many visitors and there is a good variety of shops, tearooms, restaurants and pubs serving meals. A firm favourite is Ye Olde Naked Man Cafe which houses a traditional bakery & cafe. Market day is on Tuesday. Do not miss the Gallery On The Green (thought to be the smallest art gallery in the world)
A must do excursion is the Settle-Carlisle railway route. The train will take you over the Ribblehead viaduct into the beautiful Yorkshire Dales and on to Carlisle in Cumbria. Horse riding, golf, swimming and many outdoor activities are available locally. The Settle Loop is part of the Pennine Bridleway and has splendid views of the area. You can also enjoy a gentle stroll alongside the River Ribble.
One of the main attractions of Settle is access to the Three Peaks, Whernside, Ingleborough and Penyghent. These Ribblesdale hills are all around 700 metres high and are ideal country for hill walkers. The magnificent waterfalls at nearby Ingleton are well worth visiting. The sights of The Yorkshire Dales & Lake District are only a short drive away. Golfers can enjoy a round at Settle golf club or Skipton golf club.
