Kettlewell is a tranquil village in Upper Wharfedale with many 17th and 18th Century houses. Kettlewell is a superb base for walking and ‘The Dales Way’ footpath passes through the village. There are beautiful walks along the scenic fells or more gentle strolls along the river bank of Cam Beck. The village was used as a film location for the recent hit movie ‘Calendar Girls’. There is a shop for everyday needs, a post office and a number of pubs and cafes in Kettlewell.
The villages of Buckden, Starbotton and Hubberholme have a number of excellent holiday cottages. The area around these villages is an absolute paradise for outdoor enthusiasts with walks from the doorstep across fields and fells. Pretty riverside strolls and cycling along country lanes will let you enjoy the natural beauty of the Yorkshire Dales.
The Dales market towns of Grassington and Skipton are within easy reach, as are the popular attractions of Malham Cove and Aysgarth Falls. You can try fishing at Kilnsey trout farm and pony trekking.
