Sinnington is a pretty village, straddling the River Seven, on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. The area is a haven for walkers, with easy access to riverside and woodland walks from the village. Pony trekking, fishing and golf are available locally. Springtime is a lovely time to visit Sinnington, when the daffodils and bluebells are in bloom along the river bank.
The village is on the main bus route to Helmsley, Pickering & Scarborough. Sinnington has a renowned country inn, the Fox & Hounds, which serves excellent food. There is a good choice of shops, pubs and restaurants in the nearby market towns Pickering 4½ miles (market day – Monday) & Kirkbymoorside 3½ (market day – Wednesday).
Sinnington village is an excellent touring base for the North York Moors and the coastal resorts of Whitby, Scarborough and Filey. North Yorkshire Moors Railway, Flamingo Land, Nunnington Hall, Helmsley Castle and Walled Garden are a short drive away. The myriad of visitor attractions in the City of York, including the National Railway Museum and Jorvik Viking Centre, are less than an hours drive away.
