The most photographed attraction is a small attractive thatched cottage near the stream that runs through the village. It will provide you with a perfect postcard cottage photo!

Thornton-le-Dale boasts some lovely tearooms, excellent restaurants, inns, a good choice of craft and gift shops. You must visit The Chocolate Factory, which is renowned for its delicious hand-made chocolates. Watch out for ‘Music on the Green’ concerts held on Sundays during the summer months. The village is home to TV’s ‘Bangers & Cash’ and you can visit a motor museum. For relaxation you can take a stroll around the picturesque village duck pond.

Thornton-le-Dale has easy access to the Moors and Dalby Forest. The market town of Pickering (2 miles) is home to the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway. Flamingo Land, Eden Camp and Castle Howard are popular day excursions. The city of York and the coastal resorts of Whitby and Scarborough are within a 30 minute drive and they are also served by good bus services.
